Location: Lou's Place
As part of Homelessness Week this year Lou's Place is running a new campaign #sewingforhousing. We are holding a 'sew in' next Saturday 20th July from 10-2pm.
The idea of the 'sew in' is to make little orange felt houses/ badges (according to a pattern) by hand and then we are embroidering the words - safety, dignity and recovery onto the houses.
The idea is for volunteers, clients, staff and other supporters and friends to join forces in making the houses and then for us to send to politicians and people of influence in our community and ask them to wear their badge during Homelessness Week and post online. When we send the badge it will be accompanied by a call to action - for more housing, and housing first for women!
The more badges we make the more people we can reach! The idea of gentle protest believes that receiving something beautiful and handmade is much harder to ignore...
We would love you and your friends to join in the fun! You might like to share our recent post on Instagram or Facebook as well.
If you can make it please RSVP by Thursday 18th July to firstname.lastname@example.org
Hope to see you there!
