2010: "What is to be done?" The White Paper 12 Months On
The March 2010 edition of Parity follows on directly from the June 2008 "Green Paper" and February 2009 "White Paper" editions of Parity. The Council to Homeless Persons in collaboration with FaHCSIA and Homelessness Australia is production a special edition of Parity to inform the homelessness sector of the policy and program responses to the White Paper The Road Home: A National Approach to Reducing Homelessness. As with the Green and White Paper editions, the March 2010 edition will be devoted to providing information, analysis, argument and commentary on the progress that has been made since the development of the White Paper. National Rental Affordability Scheme - Submission
The National Rental Affordability Scheme was established to help increase the supply of affordable rental dwellings, by subsidising operators to offer rental properties at a discount rate.
Homelessness Australia’s submission included calls for preference to be given to submissions able to offer their accommodation to those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, as well as those schemes able to provide support and extra services for tenants. Homelessness Australia also called for no tenant to be evicted from an NRAS property if unable to find suitable accommodation because of income eligibility.
Job Capacity Assessment Review Submission - Submission
The Australian Government committed to review Job Capacity Assessment processes in response to issues raised by stakeholders. Job Capacity Assessments are often used in Employment Services to determine appropriate payments and access to programs.
Homelessness Australia’s submission includes strategies to improve access to services and support for people experiencing homelessness, as well as suggestions for improving the processes of Job Capacity Assessments and identification of homelessness.

National framework for protecting Australia’s children - Submission
The Australian Government is developing and implementing a National Child Protection Framework. Homelessness Australia made a submission, highlighting the large number of children leaving state care who subsequently become homeless.
2007 Federal Election Inquiry Submission
On the 27th February 2008 the Special Minister for State, Senator the Hon John Faulkner, asked the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters to inquire into and report on all aspects of the 2007 Federal Election and matters related thereto.
Homelessness Australia made a submission to the enquiry highlighting and offering solutions to a number of barriers that people experiencing homelessness face when it comes to participation in the electoral process.
Budget 2008-09 Submission
Homelessness Australia contributed a submission to the Federal Government’s 2008-09 Budget process.
In this submission, Homelessness Australia highlighted five priority measures for funding in the Budget. These measures would help to achieve goal of halving turn-away rates from Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) agencies over the next five years.
