Cycle 4 Life

In September Philippa Seldon will cycle close to 1600km from Canberra to Brisbane generating awareness of suicide prevention whilst raising vital funds for Lifeline. Campaign website.

Commonground supported housing

An innovative housing project celebrates its first birthday. A partnership between government, charities and the private sector, the project combines housing with on-site support services to meet the complex health, education and social needs of the tenants who've experienced chronic homelessness. New census figures have revealed that close to one in seven Americans now live below the poverty line, a record high of 46.2 million last year. The news spells out the human cost of the country's stagnating economy.

Landlords blacklist 18,000 tenants

The number of South Australians on rental blacklists has jumped 22 per cent in two years. Figures from TICA, Australia's largest rental database, show there are 18,454 SA tenants on the blacklist, compared with 16,582 this time last year and 15,126 this time in 2009. Kids at Port Augusta Residential Housing Facility plead for freedom
